The Startup Capital of the North

The Twin Cities are a fertile ground for creative thought, technological innovation, and savvy business people. This was made especially concrete at Beta.MN 2.0, an event allowing local startups to demo their products while meeting and mingling with entrepreneurs, investors, and supporters.
The event was held Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Surly brewery, which proved to be the prefect venue for the third edition of Beta.MN. The modern space – a product of business-forward legislation – served delicious locally-brewed beer, while 10 local startups set up their wares in the room upstairs. There was a wide range of talent on display, including thoughtfully-sourced and carefully-crafted coffee from Kindly, and custom handmade clothing from The Patchery. The tech sector was certainly on-hand, with PurchaseBox demoing their efficient inbox organizer, and CompassHx drawing insights from health care data.
With Minnesota’s startup community gathering together to connect and support each other, Beta.MN 2.0 served as a perfect microcosm of this year’s Twin Cities Startup Week, a week-long series of events featuring Minneapolis and St. Paul’s entrepreneurial community. Following its successful launch last year, the 2015 program will have double the number of events, presentations, workshops, and mentor sessions from top local startups, held throughout the Twin Cities the week of September 8-13, 2015.
Twin Cities Startup Week is also opening its programming to the community this year. If you have an idea for an event, whether it’s a happy hour, educational session, or speaker panel, submissions are now open at the TCSW website. Anything that can and will support the startup community is fair game, and creativity is encouraged. Submissions are due by July 15th.
