MN-based non-profit Love Your Melon, will host the second annual “Love Your Melon Day” on Oct. 22, 2014. The official day, declared by mayors and governors in 14 different U.S. cities, will celebrate and lift the spirits of children battling cancer and the families that support them. The day-long event will consist of 54 campus events, 14 donation events, and numerous visits to children’s hospitals where Love Your Melon ambassadors will arrive dressed as superheroes, handing out hats and visiting with children undergoing treatment. These initiatives will help raise funds and awareness for cancer research. Follow along with the adventures and events at www.LYMDAY.com.

Ambassadors taking part in Love Your Melon Day activities are locals in each city who have shown a strong commitment and interest in the non-profit’s buy-one, give-one program.

Love Your Melon is non-profit with a mission to instill hope and create smiles on the faces of children battling cancer. Zachary Quinn and Brian Keller founded the organization on Oct. 22, 2012 while the two were students at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota. As of Oct. 1, 2014, Love Your Melon has donated more than 7,550 hats to children and families across the country. In addition to hat donations, the organization has helped to host numerous fundraisers across the country in efforts to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
