Facebook Pays Homage to the Selfie, In a Moving Way
Thanks be to Facebook, for “animated selfies” can almost populate pages everywhere. Facebook will soon allow you to upload short, looping clips as your profile pic. Thank GOD this wasn’t a thing when I was in college. Those late night dance parties forever will be buried in bittersweet memory. Facebook has also reconfigured the design of your friends’ profiles, based on how well you know the person. Therefore, the profile of your new colleague will showcase different information than the profile of your first college roommate. Just your daily reminder Facebook knows you better than your own grandmother.
Twitter Takes Chaos Down a Notch, With…More Information, Obviously
If you’re like millions of users trying Twitter and becoming senselessly overwhelmed by Twitter’s “strange rituals,” Jack Dorsey, Chief Executive, hears you loud and clear (actually, he probably just hears the Twitter crickets). This week, Twitter introduced the “Moments” tab, in attempt to store news and updates in one location. Will this new feature attract casual users? Or will trying to save Twitter make the channel a distant memory itself?
The Power of the Peeple
We’ve made it, folks! We thought there was an app for everything. Until Peeple app sprouted from a sad, dark swamp. Basically Yelp’s twin, the Peeple app set a platform where users could assign reviews to everyone they know (and can’t opt out). Lesson learned, don’t fart in the elevator. Don’t fret though, controversy around the new app has unfolded like a Weezer music video (in one, quick take). The internet backlash has made co-founder rethink his idea he clearly had drunk on a weekday. Actually, the social pages for Peeple have mysteriously disappeared from the web. Here yee, here yee!
Bears, French Bulldogs, Battlestar Galactica?
It’s proof in the advertising/YouTube/life pudding, everyone loves a good puppy video. Especially one that showcases a French Bulldog protecting her turf against two bears. Jewels, the fierce lady Frenchie, is my new hero. Go ahead, watch the video here. Lesson learned: You’re stronger than you think.
Minnesota is Your Playground
When is the last time you tried a cartwheel? The Minnesota Children’s Museum encourages you to try while they announced October 7th as Minnesota’s official “Day of Play.” They asked individuals, companies and businesses to take part on social media with #PlayMoreMN to promote the value of play in making the community a happier place. The special day also ignites the kickoff of The Minnesota Children’s Museum’s expansion project in downtown St.Paul.
