5 Key Takeaways from #SMBMSP72 – Social Media Case Studies

Date

This month’s Social Media Breakfast kicked off as it usually does – with coffee, bagels, and bacon! We all got our tweeting fingers ready and dug in to case studies from Jaclyn Grossfield, Lee Odden, and Casey Hall.
Here are 5 things we learned from them:
1.     Get to know your audience (like, really know them)
Go past just the demographics and statistics and do a thorough deep dive of your audience once a year. What do they share? Who do they use social to connect with? The insight you gain can inform the type of content and promotions you plan for the community.

2.     Give people what they want
Now that you know who you’re talking to, find valuable content that speaks to them in a way they will truly enjoy and understand. A goal to work toward: your audience should find every piece of content you publish to be both relevant and worthwhile.
Social-Media-Breakfast-Takeaways-2 3. Balance is key
Posting the same type of content over and over again is a quick way to lose followers and annoy potential customers. So don’t do it! Find the right balance through numerous content categories that work for your community.

4. Make paid social part of the strategy
Your 2015 social media plan needs to include a budget for ad spend. There’s no getting around it. By 2018, social media advertising revenues are expected to reach $15 billion. Be strategic and smart about where you spend money on social – is a post already getting great organic reach? Boost it!
Social-Media-Breakfast-Takeaways-4 5. Mobile is the next frontier
Now is the time to focus on your mobile experience. Remember your last encounter with a really awful ‘mobile’ site or a graphic that wasn’t optimized for your phone or tablet? Don’t connect your brand with bad mobile experience!
