Roll the tape.
Video content continues to dominate the conversation with live broadcasting, interactive 360 experiences, and by grabbing attention on a home screen. The live stream has taken center stage in recent months, showcasing events, product releases, and music albums.
Pinterest jumped into the mix, adding video integration to its pins to better catch the eyes of its users.
Facebook has upped its video analytics, added tools for 360 video, and introduced live video to its Messenger app.
Twitter is here for the moment. With the launch of its Thursday Night Football live stream, along with partnerships across various television networks, Twitter is focusing on what’s happening in the world right now.
It’s your profile. See what you want to see.
All major platforms took strides to give users control over their home feeds. Twitter and Instagram both added features that filter out unwanted, hateful, or irrelevant content, and Facebook users are now fully in control of the ads that appear on their newsfeeds.
Facebook’s ad-blocking privileges put an even higher emphasis for brands on creating strong, relevant content.
Pinterest is giving its users the ability to eliminate the “Picked for you” feature on the home screen.
Be creative.
From Snapchat’s ever-evolving abundance of filters and lenses to Instagram Stories announcement to Twitter adding sticker integration to its pictures and videos, platforms are encouraging users to show off their creative chops, adding yet another level of individualization to a given account.
