New York Fashion Week Goes Digital

Date

Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week came to an end yesterday, ending with Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. Usually only the press, industry professionals, buyers, editors and a few celebrity desirables are given the amazing opportunity of attending the Fashion Shows and Presentations.

However, with our current age of technology, it is no surprise that a handful of these runways were streamed online. The little people no longer have to wait for the reviews and photographs to come to the surface in order to soak up all the trends of the season. Web streaming of NYFW occurred for the first time during fall of 2011. Ever since, anyone with access to a computer and an internet connection has had a front-row seat to the newest designs and pieces of the season. Of course, the more glamorous option would be watching J.Mendel in person while being seated next to Mary-Kate and Ashley and wearing matching sunglasses. Yet the reality of that for most of us is slim. Instead we can either host our own viewing party while dressed in our most fashion-forward attire or remain in our comfy pajamas that don’t match and wouldn’t be caught dead wearing in front of Anna Wintour. Unfortunately every single show and presentation is not available for online viewing pleasure. Hopefully every single beautifully constructed garment will be on display via web some day!
We are sad NYFW is over, but the fashion never stops as London Fashion Week began on Friday. They too are streaming shows live so head on over to this website to look at the schedule. Paris and Milan fashion weeks begin on Feb. 22nd and Feb. 28th.
